Demographics
Quite a few years ago, I was the General Sales Manager at a talk radio
station.
The very first thing I did when training new sales representatives
was to explain the importance of customer demographics. Frequently I
would re-inforce this with established and experienced reps.
All radio stations want residual sales and long-term relationships.
It is impossible to build a good and profitable customer base on quick
hits, and rotating sales. Hostdrjack maintains the same philosophy.
It is important to me personally that you succeed, so that I keep
you here for years to come. It makes my life much easier to watch you
grow with us, and bill you for years to come, as opposed to selling
you an ad for a week and then needing to replace you. Therefore I urge

Writing a good ad is always important, but matching it to your customer
profile and demographics is the single most important thing you can
do. When the wrong person reads a great ad they rarely if ever buy the
product. Conversely when the person reading the same ad is the likely
buyer they respond overwhelmingly.Therefore, knowing whom your potential
customer is…is critical. I’ll assume for our purposes that
you do.
The next step is matching your customer’s profile or demographics
to the media you’ll be advertising on. In this case it is the
Hostdrjack web site. Understanding the demographics of this site are
the key to your success.
Although we obviously have people from every demographic, I will make
it very clear to you exactly who makes up the vast majority of our customer
base in order for you to raise your chances for success. When you judge
results on this or any site, you need to consider both the number of
clicks you recieve and, the percentage of clicks that turn into sales.
By providing a product or service that appeals to this demographic your
chances of acheiving a good click/sale ratio increase.
Approximately 70 % of our customers are female, single, employed and
between the ages of 18-27. They are broken up as a reflection of the
country’s population racially. Of this group approximately 60
% are Caucasian, 20 % Hispanic/Latino, and 12 % African American, with
the remainder divided among Asians, Indians etc.The remaining 30 % of
visitors are approximately 50 % young single employed males between
the ages of 18-30 and broken up along the same percentages ethnically.
The balance are approximately 30 % women between the age of 27-40 years
of age with a higher married and divorced percentage. Approximately
17 % are over 40 years of age and 3 % males over 30.

Based on the information above if your target or product
is geared to males, older males, or older people in general…it
would probably not be an optimum investment for you to buy ad space
here! So, I personally advise against it!
However, if you client base is young people, especially young single
girls…you should seriously consider advertising!
Dating, social networking, love, romance, perfume, clothes, lingerie,
pocketbooks, advice, toiletries, cosmetics and makeup, jewelry, shoes,
chat forums, books, emotioncons, etc are a few of the items that will
appeal to the demographics of this site.
Young employed women buy many items in equal numbers to their male
counterparts. For example, women use computers, software, radios, stereos,
CD players, TV’s and all kinds of electronic equipment as much
as men.
Music, entertainment, travel, vacations, cars, auto products and services
make up a few other products and services women use.
If you have an item or service that will appeal to young females and
young males it will be very popular…as our audience of young males
is growing nicely.
